Numbers matching 300hp 327ci engine, numbers matching 4 speed transmission. What a find! Not only does this car still wear its original paint on a straight body, but it has only had one owner through 2006! This car is VERY ORIGINAL and also VERY CORRECT! A very early model '66, the trim tag shows an A.O. Smith body assembly date of August 9, 1965. Numbers match on the rear-end, and the original date coded radiator is still in place as well. Needless to say, the paint has not held up to 42 years of sunlight, and is faded all over. Nonetheless, the 1966-only Mosport Green is a very unique color, and is much lighter than the greens offered following the 1966 production year. There is one crack in the fiberglass, which can be seen on the driver's fender wheel well. Convertible top looks to be older, so expect a hazy window and some dry-rot. Chrome door handles show some light pitting, and have a haze to them; the chrome bumpers are in similar condition with a haze of hairline scratches, but no major pitting, rust, or dings. Tail lights are in exceptional condition with no cracks or scratches. Gas filler door plastic trim logo is cracked and should probably be replaced. Factory wheel covers are attached to steel wheels; the wheel covers are unrestored, and are showing some pitting in the spinners. Tires are BF Goodrich "The Advantage" Radial T/A whitewalls, and show no dry-rotting and roughly 70% tread. This car also wears a set of vintage sidepipes with non-original covers. Interior is just as much untouched as the exterior; seats covers themselves are in good shape, although the stitching is starting to come loose at the seams on the driver's seat; dash pad is nice with no cracks, although the passenger side o.s. bar has some cracking on its trim. Door panels show well with no major issues. Original GM seatbelts are present, showing original buckles in good shape. Steering wheel is in good shape also with no cracks and an excellent horn button. The gauges on this car are particularly nice for being original, with clear lenses and minimal fading. Of course, the clock is not functioning at this time. The loop-style carpet shows some wear, and is dry-rotted in one area. Please note that unlike most of our cars, this is a northern Vette, and shows a typical northern frame with some other issues as well. Engine compartment is mostly as it came from the factory, and is complete with ignition shielding. A Holley 4bbl carburetor is also present, as well as a non-matching GM intake. The stamp pad on this car is very clean and clear! A vintage rebuilt alternator is also currently installed, as well as a chrome air cleaner lid that has seen better days. Original matching hardtop available for an additional $1,200. Original features include AM/FM radio, auxiliary hardtop, power antenna. Call for price |
